To the Publisher of the Boston Gazette, Sir, When I had
wrote the following lines; agreeable to a common custom, I
desired a friend to bestow an encomium on the; which he
declined; telling me I might as well do it my self; and that
not without a late example. This I took for a friendly
intimation that they did not deserve one. However, have
ventured to send them to you, and if you'l allow them a
place in your paper, you'l oblige Your humble servant.

Illustrious bard! (whoe'er thou art,)
Whom Human's joys have made so part;
That 'cause the Hony-moon is gone,
And nuptial troubles not come on;
